Since establishing Equinox in 1996, Eryl has steered it to become one of the leading independent communications companies in Wales, with a client base drawn from public, private and voluntary sectors. 


A first language Welsh speaker, he has been involved in the public relations and marketing industry for more than twenty five years and is a strategic management consultant with expertise in managing the reputations of high profile public and private organisations.


He was formerly a PR Manager for the RAC in the late 80s before being appointed director of public affairs for the British Railways Board in Wales and southern England in the 90s.


He has vast knowledge, understanding and contacts within the media and political field across the UK and has managed a wide range of issues and crises for clients.


As well as leading on many of Equinox’s own communications training courses he is also a trainer at Cardiff University for the Open for Business Courses, a programme of professional development courses for businesses, where Eryl specialises in media relations.


In his spare time he enjoys sport, in particular rugby and keeping fit, and often takes part in 10k runs, half and full marathons.

Zara has more than 17 years experience in the PR and marketing industry, devising and implementing successful campaigns across the UK on a national and regional basis and across consumer and business-to-business briefs.


Zara joined Equinox nearly ten years ago from London where she worked for eight years in top agency Bell Pottinger and then in house at Sainsbury’s Head Office. She brings with her a wealth of experience across all communication disciplines and is responsible for the strategic direction of all clients at Equinox. In her role as company director and Head of Communications, Zara leads the account teams across a wide variety of sectors including tourism, retail, transport, healthcare, construction, regeneration, charity and government.


She also works alongside MD Eryl Jones to implement the agency’s own business plan, managing the development of the agency to ensure that Equinox remains one of Wales’ top consultancies. When she’s not working, Zara enjoys playing tennis, cooking, socialising, classical music concerts and watching films and comedy on TV, The Thick of It is an all time favourite.


Having studied French at degree level and lived in France for a number of years, Zara also enjoys regular trips to the South of France and dreams of a second home there before she’s 40!

Kate has been a part of the Equinox team for more than eight years. She has created and managed award winning campaigns for clients such as The Valleys Heart and Soul campaign, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Folly Farm and Zoo. In her role as Associate Director Kate oversees the strategic approach to campaigns for a broad range of high profile clients spanning consumer, corporate businesses and the public sector.

Having cut her teeth in the press office of the Wales Tourist Board Kate’s areas of expertise include tourism, heritage, retail, hospitality and fashion.

Kate is an experienced marketeer both offline and online, helping clients listen to and engage with their audience via social media channels and measure its effectiveness. Kate delivers social media training at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Cardiff University as well as bespoke training for clients.

Kate also works on developing the business with Zara and Eryl and manages staff welfare and training.

When she’s not working Kate likes to bake cupcakes and hunt car boot sales and charity shops for cake stands and china teapots.

Catrin joined Equinox in early 2008 and has since gained more than five years experience working in PR consultancy. She started her career in communications after graduating from the MA International Public Relations course at Cardiff University in 2005.


Acting as Account Director on a wide portfolio of accounts, Catrin is responsible for delivering high- impact, strategic and measured online and off-line communications campaigns for a range of B2B and consumer clients in Wales and across other parts of the UK.


She currently works on marketing, PR and social media campaigns for clients including Savills’ managed sites, Greenwich Shopping Park and the Red Dragon Centre; leading regeneration specialist, St. Modwen and the Welsh Assembly Government funded partnership, Fly-tipping Action Wales.


As a fluent Welsh language speaker, Catrin has gained significant experience creating and implementing bilingual information campaigns for clients in the public and private sector, and has honed strong contacts across Welsh and non-Welsh language media outlets nationally through her work.


A passionate linguist, Catrin also speaks Italian and French, and enjoys travelling and experiencing new cultures. Her most recent expedition took her to the top of Brazil’s iconic Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro.

Helen joined the Equinox team in 2007 after completing a BA degree in Journalism at Cardiff University.


In her role as Account Manager, Helen implements both offline and online campaigns for a variety of clients including Greenwich Shopping Park, The Valleys, Heritage Lottery Fund, Talbot Green Shopping Park and The Chartered Institute of Marketing.


Recently awarded Outstanding Young Communicator at CIPR Cymru PRide Awards 2011/12, Helen has a keen interest in social media, event management and writing.


A Welsh speaker, Helen enjoys dining out, travelling to new and exciting places and updating her fashion blog.

Elinor graduated with a BA Honours in English Studies from the University of Nottingham in 2008 and embarked on an extensive trip around South-East Asia before beginning her career in PR.


She has since worked for six months as a Media & Marketing Assistant for Comic Relief, helping to promote the Sport Relief 2010 campaign across Wales, the South, South-West, West and West Midlands.


A passionate fluent Welsh speaker with good knowledge of Welsh media and solid experience of working in the charity sector, Elinor joined the Equinox team in 2010. With significant experience of organising and managing media events, Elinor brings creativity and originality to her role and she supports the team across all accounts.


Outside of work, Elinor loves shopping for bargains, going to the theatre and catching up with friends over a glass of white wine. She likes to spend time at the weekend watching cookery programmes and experimenting in the kitchen.

Joining Equinox at the beginning of the year, Mike has vast experience of consumer and business communications, having been in house at Swansea University as well as benefiting from agency experience in both Wales and South East of England.


He specialises in public relations, social media and marketing, raising awareness and enhancing the reputation of his clients. Mike picked up the ‘Best Use of Media Relations’ prize at the CIPR Cymru PRide Awards in 2009 for his Bionic Man campaign.


In his role as Account Manager, Mike works for a variety of clients including the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, St. Modwen, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Neath Port Talbot Council and Fly Tipping Action Wales (FtAW). Outside of work, Mike likes to spend any spare minute he has with his one year old daughter and wife.


He also participates in a number of sports, including football, golf, tennis and squash.

Becky joined Equinox in September 2012 having spent a successful summer interning for the company, during which time she worked on the delivery of communications strategies for clients from across a variety of sectors. She previously studied for a BA English Literature degree at Cardiff University, enjoying modules in fiction, poetry, drama and media.


As a student she developed her oratory skills as a member of the university’s debating society and built on her experience by undertaking a number of work placements alongside her studies, completing stints at Wales News Service and as a marketing assistant for a local business. Since starting at Equinox, Becky has worked with a range of clients including regeneration specialist St Modwen, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Talbot Green Shopping Park.


In her role she is responsible for managing the positive reputation of her clients through a combination of tactical media relations, the delivery of engaging and appropriate press and marketing copy, an awareness of social media/online advancements and an ongoing creative approach. During her spare time Becky takes a keen interest in fashion and is forever spending too much money on the high street.


She cites Topshop, H&M and Urban Outfitters as her weaknesses.

Annabel graduated with a BA Honours in French and German from Cardiff University in 2012 during which time she spent a semester studying at the University of Nantes in France and a semester teaching in two schools in Austria.


Having completed the LAMDA Public Speaking Gold Medal, Annabel is a good oral communicator and a range of work experience placements have given her a good grounding in the PR industry. After completing an internship at Equinox during the summer of 2011, she joined the team following her graduation.


In her role as Account Executive, she supports the team on PR, marketing and social media campaigns across a number of clients, including St. Modwen, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Fly-tipping Action Wales, Savills’ retail parks, and Neath Port Talbot Council. Before starting university, Annabel took a gap year where she coached netball at St Anne’s College in South Africa and travelled extensively throughout Africa visiting Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Botswana.


As well as enjoying playing tennis, netball and cycling, Annabel is a keen sports fan and spends most of the summer on a cricket boundary and the winter on a rugby touch line.


She also loves cooking and can bake a mean cake!

Amy joined Equinox in 2013 shortly after completing a BA (hons) in Journalism at the University of Glamorgan specialising in television news and documentary. She will be graduating in July 2013. In her role as communications assistant Amy provides support to the team with clients such as St Modwen, Cadw, Marie Curie and Fly-tipping Action Wales.


Before joining the team Amy was a PR intern for Ty Hafan and St John Wales where she gained experience in media relations, social media, copywriting and interviewing. Amy is a keen music fan, enjoying singing, drama and the theatre. When she’s not working Amy likes socialising with friends, shopping and running (well, trying to.)


This is Amy’s first communications job and she is really excited to begin her career with Equinox.
